In 1947, sociologist and historian Carle Zimmerman, in his book FAMILY AND CIVILIZATION, compared the disintegration of various cultures with the parallel decline of family life in those cultures. He found eight specific patterns of domestic behavior that typified the downward spiral of each culture he studied.
1. Marriage loses its sacredness and is frequently broken by divorce.
2. The traditional meaning of the marriage ceremony is lost.
3. Feminist movements abound.
4. Increased public disrespect for parents and authority in general.
5. Acceleration of juvenile delinquency, promiscuity and rebellion.
6. Refusal of people with traditional marriages to accept family responsibilities.
7. Growing desire for, and acceptance of adultery.
8. Increasing interest in and spread of, sexual perversions and sex-related crimes.

"The so-called 'new morality' ( which is nothing more than the old immorality) that recognizes free love, trail marriages, extra- marital affairs, wife swapping, and the shedding of a mate for no reason other than boredom, breeds insecurity and uncertainty. There is even a movement underway to give women the right to maintain their maiden name after marriage, so if the couple later divorce the wife won't have so much trouble changing her bank accounts, credit cards, etc.

According to the book THE DAY AMERICA TOLD THE TRUTH Americans are making up their own rules and laws. The says that there is absolutely no moral consensus in this as there was in the 1950s and 1960s.
Religion plays almost no role in shaping most lives, the study found. While nine out of every ten people say they believe in God, only one in five had ever talked to a minister, priest, or rabbi about a personal problem. Four in every five said they believe in an afterlife. Almost half believe they're headed to heaven, while only 4 percent expect to spend time in hell.
The results the survey conducted by the book reveal that only 13 percent of the population still believes in all the Ten Commandments. Nine out of ten lie regularly. Nearly one-third of married Americans have had an affair. One-fifth of the nation's children have lost their virginity by age 13. One in seven Americans carries a handgun or has one in a vehicle. One in five women says she has been raped by a date.
For $10 million, 7 percent of the American people said they'd be willing to kill a stranger, 23 percent would be willing to become a prostitute, and 25 percent would be willing to abandon their family.

Does poverty really cause criminal behavior? James Patterson and Peter Kim recently conducted research that reveals that more people in affluent Beverly Hills, Calif. were willing to admit to having taken illegal drugs, to having committed a crime, to owning a gun, and to having had an extramarital affair than were the impoverished inhabitants of the South Bronx of New York City.

There is a famous story about a woman who was asked if she would sleep with a man for one million dollars. She replied "sure I would!" Then she was asked if she would sleep with the questioner for ten dollars, to which she replied, "Of course not, what kind of girl do you think I am?" The famous reply was, "That, my dear, has already been determined... what we are doing now is haggling over price."

He was the nemesis of NFL quarterbacks for 14 seasons. He holds the career record in sacks and was selected to 13 consecutive pro bowls. In 1997 he led his team, the Green Bay Packers, to its first Super Bowl victory in more than 30 years.
Today, Reggie White is using all of his fortitude and courage to stand strong against moral decline. In March 1998 he spoke before the Wisconsin legislature and forthrightly presented the biblical position of problems facing our world, including greed, sexual immorality, obscene movies and music, and race relations. His comments created an uproar, and White was branded an 'extremist' and 'bigot.' His honest speech cost him several corporate sponsorships and, probably, a contract to be a commentator at CBS sports.
Through it all, Reggie has stood firm. "I'm not going to sell out. I'm not going to back off what I know God has put on my heart to share."
