"The longest trip I ever took was from my head to my heart."

--Fred Craddock, preaching professor

The journey from head-knowledge to heart-belief is a long one for many, yet it is also the most important trip you'll ever take.

A young boy was looking dreamily out the classroom window. The teacher asked, "And what do you see out there?"

"I see the HORIZON."

"And have you ever WALKED all the way to the horizon?"

"No, I am too young."

"Well, someday you will."

The boy pondered that statement for a minute, then asked, "And when I get there, what will I find?"

"When you get there, you will discover ANOTHER horizon-- another far beyond."

The boy continued: "And if I walk again?"

"If you walk again, you will know that the SECOND horizon is merely a starting-place for the THIRD."

The boy, frustrated, asked, "Will my whole life, then, be one of LOSING HORIZONS?"

The wise teacher responded, "No, of always FINDING them!"
________

The Eglish word "horizon" comes from the Greek "horos" which means "LIMIT." The teacher was truly wise: God intends for our lives to consist of always walking out towards our "limits," so that He in His grace can then EXPAND and EXTEND our "limits."
