PASADENA, Calif. - It's becoming more and more common for us to hear stories about school computers being misused to access pornographic material via the internet porn. That script replayed itself recently in Pasadena, California, with a new twist: This time it wasn't the students, it was the school district staff!
City school officials quickly yanked Internet privileges for some staff members after usage logs revealed that some of them visited pornographic Internet sites. The deputy superintendent wryly commented that, even though "school district business is pretty broad" (!!), he had a hard time believing that such usage fit into the staff's work assignments...
The relatively new question of what constitutes "proper" use of Internet access on "company time" begs another, age-old question: What constitutes "proper" use of the privileges, talents, and opportunities the Lord has granted us? Have you stopped to consider that, whenever you are given an opportunity to work productively for the Kingdom of God, yet you decide instead to use that time in a frivolous, selfish, or wasteful manner, you have committed a sin just as serious in God's eyes as the sin committed by these irresponsible school district staff members? Let us always seek to use wisely the time and talents the Lord has allotted for us!

A recent European study highlights an often-neglected aspect of automobile safety. It's common knowledge that seat belts save lives in accidents — but making sure that loose objects are secured in the car can be a lifesaver as well.
For example: In an accident, a medium-sized book which is left on your car's back shelf might fly forward and hit a person with the impact of a karate chop. Even worse, an unsecured umbrella could turn into a deadly missile in a collision.
Safety experts in Europe, in order to warn motorists to take precautions against such dangers, are using this slogan: "10 seconds can save your life."
Certainly, 10 seconds well spent CAN make a huge difference. Have you thought about how you could use the little "spare moments" in your life in a manner that glorifies God.

• 30 % of men surveyed use a home computer 11 or more hours per week (that's nearly 2 hours each night).
• 54.5 % admit that "computer games" account for the majority of their home computer usage. . . . . .
Make certain that your home computer remains your tool—not your master.
