"The so-called 'new morality' ( which is nothing more than the old immorality) that recognizes free love, trail marriages, extra- marital affairs, wife swapping, and the shedding of a mate for no reason other than boredom, breeds insecurity and uncertainty. There is even a movement underway to give women the right to maintain their maiden name after marriage, so if the couple later divorce the wife won't have so much trouble changing her bank accounts, credit cards, etc.

According to the book THE DAY AMERICA TOLD THE TRUTH Americans are making up their own rules and laws. The says that there is absolutely no moral consensus in this as there was in the 1950s and 1960s.
Religion plays almost no role in shaping most lives, the study found. While nine out of every ten people say they believe in God, only one in five had ever talked to a minister, priest, or rabbi about a personal problem. Four in every five said they believe in an afterlife. Almost half believe they're headed to heaven, while only 4 percent expect to spend time in hell.
The results the survey conducted by the book reveal that only 13 percent of the population still believes in all the Ten Commandments. Nine out of ten lie regularly. Nearly one-third of married Americans have had an affair. One-fifth of the nation's children have lost their virginity by age 13. One in seven Americans carries a handgun or has one in a vehicle. One in five women says she has been raped by a date.
For $10 million, 7 percent of the American people said they'd be willing to kill a stranger, 23 percent would be willing to become a prostitute, and 25 percent would be willing to abandon their family.

Resolved, to live with all my might while I do live.
Resolved, never to lose one moment of time, to improve it the most
profitable way I can.
Resolved, never to do anything which I despise or think meanly of
another.
Resolved, never to do anything out of revenge.
Resolved, never to do anything which I should be afraid to do if it
were the last hour of my life.
